Update Four

We have  embarked on our very first event!

05/08/09 – 5 August 2009

08:00 AM – 17:00 PM

Email the schools!

As a first step in our campaign against the evils of the Church of $cientology we shall embark on a nationwide email campaign directed at local schools.

We shall alert them to the dangers of $cientology and especially regarding Narconon, the front they use to get into schools.

Observe these steps and everything should be lulzy:

1) THIS IS NOT A SPAM REQUEST. Do not spam these schools, what we want to do is educate them not annoy and/or terrify them.

2) Read these links:
- http://anonymoussa.wordpress.com/what-you-can-do/
- http://scientologyinfo.freehostia.com/

3) Read up further and KNOW what your fighting for and against (very useful links at the bottom of this message). It also helps to know about this in case the school you emailed wishes to know more.

4) DO NOT THREATEN THE SCHOOLS. Again, we are educating, not threatening. The choice is theirs to make, present the evidence and let them decide.

5) Set up a fake email account and email them from this so as to avoid identification.

6) Or, if you know the school well, email as yourself and explain to them the dangers of the Co$ and Narconon.

7) If you need to, go in to the school yourself
and meet with the teachers, principal, parents or students and let them know what is happening. Or phone them and speak to them directly.

8 ) Your email should be well worded
and full of useful information and links for them to follow and read up about.

9) Don’t be afraid to engage in discussion about this with them and be aware some will ignore you or disagree with you flat-out. Be persistent but don’t be annoying. If they don’t listen, at least you tried.

10) If the teachers etc don’t listen, then try the pupils, maybe some potential or full Zanons are lurking amongst them?

11) Be aware, we ARE NOT discriminating against the Scientology religion or Scientologists.
We are simply spreading FREELY AVAILABLE information regarding the Church of Scientology and Narconon’s activities and are protesting their illegal and deceptive activities.

Fell free to write your own emails to them or use this letter I have been emailing around:

————————-

To Whom it may concern,

My name is Indrid Cold, and I am writing to you now in the hopes that you and the excellent staff at your fine school are aware of the dangers surrounding the drug-rehabilitation organisation “Narconon”.

It has come to my attention that some of the schools in and around your area, and possibly even your school, have been implementing Narconon programs for the students. I hope that after reading what I have to say you will change your mind about using this cult-sponsored organisation at your school.

Narconon is a dangerous drug-rehabilitation program that uses its program as a front for recruiting would-be Scientologists and funnelling money and members into the Church of Scientology. Its program has never been scientifically proven to actually assist anyone with substance or alcohol abuse, and there are many reports that members of Narconon are pressured into joining the Church of Scientology and are forced to stop all contact with family members and friends.

(Please be aware that we ARE NOT discriminating against the Scientology religion or Scientologists. We are simply spreading FREELY AVAILABLE information regarding the Church of Scientology and Narconon’s activities and are protesting their illegal and deceptive activities.)

Below is a news article published in 2007 regarding the dangers of Narconon. Please take the time to read it.

(At the very bottom of this email I have also included some internet websites that will provide more information.)

Please take this seriously, as young impressionable students are being exposed to a dangerous cult under the guise of “drug rehabilitation”.

The Real Dangers of Alcohol Rehab With Narconon

http://www.articlesbase.com/health-articles/the-real-dangers-of-alcohol-rehab-with-narconon-226565.html

Posted: Oct 4th, 2007

Narconon is the operational drug and alcohol rehab branch of the Church of Scientology, and they operate almost 200 treatment centers worldwide. Although they are a branch of the Church of Scientology, for a number of reasons they conceal this fact, and no promotional materials for Narconon will ever reveal this affiliation with Scientology.

The Narconon program of drug and alcohol rehabs are based on the works and writings of Scientology founder and Guru L. Ron Hubbard, and although he possessed no real scientific training (he lied about this) the science on which the Narconon organization bases its treatments are all reliant on his works.

Medical professionals have completely disproved the fundamental scientific assertions of the treatments; yet the faithful of Narconon carry on, presenting home grown science that seems to back their claims. They do not allow for any independent confirmation of their data, and are extremely secretive about all data and recovery statistics.

Why Narconon might kill you

One aspect of the philosophy of Narconon, which at face value seems to make some sense, is that since the consumption of drugs has created the addiction and such accompanying problems in life, using drugs (medications) in the treatment of addiction only worsens the addict’s problems.

Of course when you really think about this you can see that drugs of abuse and medically necessary pharmaceuticals are quite unrelated, and that the use of aspirin, is very unlikely to ever worsen a problem with addiction!

Unfortunately, their philosophy of abstinence from all drugs is not only ridiculous; it’s also dangerous; so dangerous that the American Medical Association expressed grave concerns over the safety of the Narconon detox programming ( The dangers of Narconon rehab ).

The detox off of certain drugs, such as alcohol, can be very dangerous, and in some cases even fatal unless pharmaceutically managed; and there is a serious risk of seizures, convulsions and even fatal heart problems.

Thankfully, all of these risks can be controlled through the minimal use of certain CNS depressants, and these medications also greatly reduce the discomfort of an alcohol detox; but at a Narconon rehab, alcoholics are not given needed medications, and are left to take their chances with seizures and convulsions on the back of a misguided and absurd philosophy from an equally misguided scientist.

Narconon is dangerous, and it doesn’t work

Most of the treatments as offered at a Narconon facility make about as much sense as withholding needed medications from people at risk for heart failure, and these drug and alcohol rehabs present a legitimate threat to the health and wellbeing of those who enter.

If you need drug treatment, and especially if you need alcohol rehab and detoxification, you should not consider any Narconon affiliated program as a safe or reasonable place at which to get needed care.

Anyone considering a rehab should make certain that their time, energy and money goes to a treatment facility that offers them the best chance at a full recovery and lifetime of sobriety; a facility that does use scientifically and clinically proven therapies, and a facility that does not risk your health, and even your life by withholding needed and non intoxicating medications.

Do you research, ask your doctor, find a quality program and get the help you deserve. Don’t take a chance with Narconon.

Below is an excerpt about Narconon from an information packet called “The Truth about Scientology” – Pg 70 – the link for this file is at the bottom of this email. Please read it and decide for yourself.

The Scam of Narconon

“No scientifically well-controlled independent, long-term outcome studies were found that directly and clearly establish the effectiveness of the Narconon program for the treatment of chemical dependency and the more credible evidence establishes Narconon’s program is not effective”

- Oklahoma State Board of Mental Health

(Below are excerpts from a letter sent in 2002 to the California Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs)

“Narconon is no more than a fund-raising and recruitment tool for the Church of Scientology. Narconon patients are heavily pressured in to become staff members upon graduation. The pressure comes in emotional, mental, and financial forms. When I returned to Narconon as a patient in December of 2000, I was immediately put to work at the Narconon facility as a “detoxification specialist”. I had no medical training, was not familiar with how to care for and treat people detoxifying from drugs and alcohol, yet worked several hours a day performing such duties.

Why would Narconon place such value in getting graduates to work for them? For one, becoming a staff member for Narconon subjects one to the heavy scrutiny, oversight and control of the senior Narconon staff members. Staff members are distanced from their family members and friends, made to live either at the facility or in homes with other Narconon staff members, and constantly under the watchful eye of senior staff members. Narconon Southern California would rent out small apartments and place upwards of six to eight staff members in them to live. Graduates of the program who went on to work for Narconon and stayed sober did so only through fear of the severe repercussions of relapse. When a staff member or client of Narconon uses while at Narconon or uses after graduating and then returns to the program they are placed on a punishment program consisting of physical labour, indentured servitude, moral degradation, and heavy work.

The main reason Narconon goes to such lengths to get graduates to work for their program, however, is because that is the tool Narconon uses to funnel money and people in to the Church of Scientology. Staff members who wish to earn more than $50/week must take “training courses” at the local Church of Scientology facilities. Rather than receiving training in drug and alcohol rehabilitation, substance abuse treatment or other such fields, Narconon staff members take regular Church of Scientology courses for which Narconon pays thousands of dollars to the Church of Scientology. Staff members must buy textbooks and pay for Church of Scientology auditing courses, as well as the “e-meters” that are used in these auditing sessions. I refused to take these Church of Scientology courses and requested permission to take courses at a local community college instead. I received open and outright contempt and pressure for choosing to take non-Scientology courses because I did not play in to their financial schemes of raising money for Scientology. The financial records I had access to as a staff member made obvious and evident the fact that of the $22,000 clients pay for so-called “treatment” at Narconon, more than half of that money goes to the Church of Scientology either directly, or through the Scientology-run Association for Better Living and Education (ABLE), which owns the trademark to Narconon.”

  1. Great start Zanons!
Small suggestion regarding your ‘poon campaign and that is to consider a bit of extra info. When it comes to schools and Cos infiltration one of the main tentacles is not Narconon but their bullshit Lron teaching ‘tech’ called Applied Scholastics, which they tout as the end-all-be-all, just a bunch of regurgitated common sense mixed in with Lron’s bullcookies, you know hwere to go to get better info ;) The other hook that they are fond of throwing into the pool is of course CCHR, and all their fear-mongering rhetoric. All these fronts are insidious, dangerous, deceptive ways for infiltration/destabilization, and should be watched very carefully, as you probably already know.
Keep up the great work and More Power to Ya!

    • Thanks! I’m only beginning to scratch the surface on all of there deceptions, this will definitely come in handy.

The reason I focussed on Narconon is coz the bastards had the gall to tote their rubbish around my brotehrs school. And no-one messes with my family except me ;)

I’ll add some more info regarding the above, thanks again!
